Michelle Hammond Basi and Martha Mendez-Fischer promoted to Senior Attorneys

In recognition of their outstanding service to our clients and to the Firm, Michelle Hammond Basi and Martha Mendez-Fischer were named Senior Attorneys.   Michelle concentrates her practices in education law and employment law.   Martha concentrates her practice in immigration law.   Congratulations Michelle and Martha!

Michelle Hammond Basi practices in the areas of school law, special education, school litigation, and labor and employment law. Michelle represents school districts throughout Missouri with respect to employment and termination matters, special education, Section 504, student discipline and student rights, civil rights, and church/state issues. Michelle has successfully represented school districts in student and employment matters before various federal and state courts and administrative agencies, including the EEOC, Missouri Commission on Human Rights, and the Office for Civil Rights. She is also a regular speaker at statewide and regional school law conferences.

Martha Mendez-Fischer practices exclusively in the areas of immigration and nationality law. Martha has extensive experience in employment-based and family-based immigration cases. Martha’s experience includes representing large multinational corporations, emerging growth companies, and individuals in immigration law matters, handling all aspects of nonimmigrant and immigrant visa processing, including consular processing. Prior to joining Tueth, Keeney, Cooper, Mohan & Jackstadt, P.C., Martha practiced immigration law as the Outreach Coordinator/ Staff Attorney for the American Friends Service Committee Central America Asylum Project in Miami, Florida, where her practice focused on family-based visas, asylum, temporary protected status, citizenship and litigation before the Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
