Kylie S. Piatt practices primarily in the areas of education, special education, school litigation, and labor and employment law. Kylie regularly advises school districts, charter schools and private schools throughout Missouri with respect to employment and termination matters, student matters, including special education and Section 504 compliance, student rights, and Title IX compliance. She also advises school districts on employment matters involving Title VII, the ADA, FMLA, and the Teacher Tenure Act. Kylie has successfully represented school districts and charter schools in student and employment matters before State and Federal courts and administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Missouri Commission on Human Rights, the United States Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, and the Missouri Administrative Hearing Commission. Kylie also assists school districts with managing various intellectual property law matters, such as enforcement of copyright and trademark rights and infringement defense. Before attending law school, Kylie taught 7th and 8th grade Communication Arts at Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Academy as a corps members with Teach for America – St. Louis.
Kylie is a regular speaker at statewide and regional school law conferences. Kylie has also been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for her work in Education Law.
