Tueth Keeney Attorney Peter G. Yelkovac Quoted in Leading Publication for Surgeons Regarding Internet Defamation of Physicians

Nov 1, 2012

Firm Shareholder Pete Yelkovac was recently quoted in an article that appeared in the widely read magazine, Plastic Surgery Practice.  The article, entitled Real Stress from the Virtual World: Physicians and Online Ratings, highlighted the ever-growing challenges caused by anonymous online reviews of medical providers.

Noting Yelkovac’s experience in the representation of physicians who have experienced unfair online reviews, the article portrayed Cyberspace as a “rough-and-tumble place” that “can be highly upsetting” for a victim of unfair critiques on the Internet.  Yelkovac cited the anonymity of the Web as a precipitating factor in the creation of legal and emotional issues for physicians who are targets of “inaccurate and vicious reviews.”
A Master of Law graduate of the University of Cambridge, Yelkovac has established a national and international practice in the aggressive representation of physicians, dentists and health care providers whose reputations have been tarnished by untrue statements on the Internet.  He is joined by experienced Firm trial lawyers Margaret Hesse and John Mohan, and paralegal Madeline Magner, who help health care providers pierce the anonymity of the Web.
Yelkovac, Hesse and Mohan are experienced constitutional litigators who have prevailed in numerous cases brought against their clients under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.  Thus, the clash between Cyberspace and the First Amendment is of particular interest to them in light of their constitutional litigation background.
Peter G. Yelkovac concentrates his practice on the representation of Missouri school districts of all sizes.   Pete’s school law and school litigation practice extends to all corners of the State, and he presently serves as lead counsel for dozens of Missouri school districts.   Over his career, Pete has successfully defended many school districts in federal and state lawsuits.   He also regularly represents school districts in administrative proceedings and during investigations by federal and state agencies.   Educational organizations and institutions regularly invite Pete to deliver speeches and presentations on a variety of school and employment law issues.   Pete is also a prolific author on school law topics.   Pete writes a regular column on school law for the MoASBO Journal.   He served as editor and as a co-author of the First Edition of the Missouri Bar’s School Law Deskbook.

John J. Mohan practices in the areas of employment, construction, business and commercial litigation, personal injury and workers”™ compensation law.   His experience includes representation of various defendants in over 60 civil jury trials in federal and state courts in Missouri and Illinois.   He successfully defended numerous employers and insurers in various workers”™ compensation cases before the Missouri Division of Workers”™ Compensation, Missouri Labor & Industrial Relations Commission and Missouri appellate courts, including many alleged permanent total disability cases. John is a founding Shareholder of the Firm.   John has also served as a Judge in the Municipal Division of the St. Louis County Circuit Court.

Margaret A. Hesse primarily practices in the areas of education law, employment law, and litigation. She has represented school districts in employment matters, including Title VII, the Safe Schools Act, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Equal Pay Act. She has represented employers in labor matters before the United States Department of Labor/Wage and Hour Division, the Illinois Commission on Human Rights and the Illinois Educational Labor Relations board. Margaret has also represented employers in workers”™ compensation matters before the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations and has handled numerous appeals before the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission and the Missouri Court of Appeals.   Margaret also has practiced in the fields of medical malpractice and legal malpractice.
