Tueth Keeney is proud of its commitment to advising and educating school administrators on the complex and ever-changing legal issues facing public schools. Melanie Keeney, a Tueth Keeney founder and shareholder, recently took time to participate in a telephone roundtable as one of two featured speakers. The telephone roundtable was hosted by United Educator’s Insurance, an insurance company specifically for educational institutions.
The telephone roundtable, titled “Monitoring Student Electronic Communications: Can you do it? Should you?” took place on February 17, 2010. The roundtable addressed how and when educational institutions – including higher education institutions and both independent and public K12 schools – can monitor students’ electronic communications (and whether they should try at all). Topics included email use, including harassment and threats, “sexting”, and use of social media (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and others).
Melanie Keeney practices in the areas of K-12 education, higher education, labor and employment, and immigration law.
