BJC School Outreach and Youth Development was formed in 1991 to assist St. Louis-area school districts address behaviors deemed extremely harmful to young people by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Its mission is to empower youth to make the best possible decisions regarding their personal health and safety, and support their health-care career exploration. BJC School Outreach and Youth Development brings comprehensive physical and mental health programs to schools in the St. Louis area and the bordering six counties of Illinois (Macoupin, Madison, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair and Washington). St. Louis Suburban School Nurses’ Association, a district of the Missouri Association of School Nurses, serves and supports approximately 340 school nurses in the metropolitan St. Louis area. It offers monthly meetings featuring speakers on topics of various interests to its membership, as well as an annual Fall Workshop in October. The SLSSNA co-sponsors a School Nurse Survival Training every summer. Its mission is to educate, support and enhance the professionalism of School Nurses in the promotion of School Health. Celynda L. Brasher is a founding Shareholder of the Firm and practices in the areas of education, labor and employment law. She represents school districts in employment and termination matters, student rights and discipline, special education, school finance, civil rights, contracts, church/state issues, and Hancock Amendment challenges. Celynda has litigation experience in state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
In 2004, Celynda received the Missouri Association of School Nurses “Friends of School Nursing” Award. The honor was in recognition of her “outstanding contributions to school nursing in Missouri.” Celynda is a popular and regular speaker at MASN’s conferences and programs. In addition to her experience as a school attorney and a former tenured teacher, Celynda is also a Registered Nurse. After receiving her B.A. from Drury College in 1975, Celynda earned her B.S. from Saint Louis University School of Nursing in 1980. Celynda then earned her J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law in 1991, where she was Managing Editor of the law journal. Celynda has written and spoken throughout the state and nation on medical issues of consequence to schools. Celynda’s audiences have included diverse groups ranging from regional and statewide nursing organizations to the National Council of School Attorneys.
Tueth Keeney maintains one of the largest education practices in Missouri, advising and representing public school districts in all parts of the state.
