Ian P. CooperAigner Carr and Ian Cooper won summary judgment for Culver-Stockton College on November 2, 2018, in the Lewis County Circuit Court. After successfully obtaining dismissal of a Title IX federal lawsuit in 2017 brought by the same plaintiff, Ian and Aigner defeated the plaintiff’s subsequent common law tort claims brought in state court. Aigner successfully argued, and the Lewis County Circuit Court found, that res judicata precluded the plaintiff from bringing any additional state law claims arising out of the same operative facts alleged in plaintiff’s federal lawsuit against the College.
Aigner S. Carr practices primarily in the areas of labor & employment, litigation, and education law, representing both private and public institutions in education and employment matters. Aigner attended Saint Louis University School of Law and is licensed to practice in Missouri. During law school, Aigner competed on the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Team and was awarded Best Trial Advocate of the Mid-West region for 2015-2016 competition. Aigner is also a former member of the Theodore McMillian American Inns of Court. Before joining the firm, Aigner interned for the Saint Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office and the Federal Public Defender’s Office of the Eastern District of Missouri.
Ian P. Cooper is a founding Shareholder of Tueth, Keeney, Cooper, Mohan & Jackstadt, P.C. Ian practices in the areas of employment, higher education, commercial, and tort litigation and regularly serves as lead trial and appellate counsel in significant employment, tort and commercial cases, including class actions and other complex litigation in Missouri and Illinois. Ian is member of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and is Chairman of the Firm.
