Tueth Keeney shareholder Celynda Brasher was the presenter for the March 18, 2009 meeting of the BC Group Monthly Members Meeting. Celynda was invited to present to the international web meeting as the result of her continuing participation in business continuity planning in the St. Louis, Missouri metropolitan area. The presentation, “Preparing for Continuity – the Legal Effect of Statutes, Regulations, and NFPA,” addressed the legal issues associated with contingency planning for pandemics, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and other natural or man-made disasters. The presentation focused on planning for and preventing legal issues that arise during times of crisis – and emphasized that the threat of litigation does not disappear during times of emergency.
Minimizing legal risk is an essential element of the Tueth Keeney practice. Firm attorneys are often asked to participate in seminars focused on educating clients, as well as business and other community organizations, with the purpose of preventing avoidable litigation. This presentation was consistent with that purpose.
